I. The Rule of the Work

An image must be true. One should not follow the trends or make things that are dishonest and cheap. Every line drawn must be true. If a piece does not have a soul, you burn it. It does not leave the studio.

II. The Quiet

I make things for those who crave silence. The world is full of noise, but working must be quiet. It must not beg for attention. The worth of a thing is always below the surface, in the stillness between the one who made it and the one who looks at it.

III. The Singular Thing

You cannot mass-produce the truth. One does not count success by popularity or how much they make, but by how true they see. Each piece is a solitary thing. It stands alone, and it is enough.

IV. The Letting Go

Once the work is true, it no longer belongs to the hand that made it. You do not cling to it, nor do you mourn where it goes or who fails to understand it. Your duty ends when the line is still. Walk away from the canvas. Close the door. Begin again.
